Question: How do you decide which opportunities to take and which ones to decline? How do you know you're making a right decision?
I always ask myself these three questions. Who is it from? Where is it taking me towards? What is it taking me from? The first question checks the source. If it's not from God, it's not for me. Period. I seek first the Kingdom and the opportunity will follow.(Matt 6:33) The second question checks the future. List the new possibilities that this decision will bring you into. Is it in line with your calling, your purpose, your goals, and your plans? Will it bring you into contact with the right people or the wrong people? The third question checks the past. Is moving forward in this new decision going to distract from or add to the plans that are already in motion? What things would you have to give up to go in this new direction? If its from God, enhances my future, and aligns with my plans then it's an opportunity I consider. If it fails any of the three tests, it's not even on the table.
