Question: I'm single on Valentines Day and I don't feel like it will ever change. Am I doing something wrong?
It's right around this time when those of us who are single tend to be in our feelings more often. And its okay to be feel what you're feeling but most often our insecurities disappear when we switch our mindset.
1. Singleness is necessary
One of the most common excuses we hear about why relationships don't work out is "He just wasn't ready" or "She wasn't ready to commit" or "We just were not ready to take that step" and a thousand other variations about that phrase. It takes little effort to to avoid situations that we know will hurt us but it takes maturity to avoid situations we desire but are unprepared for. Its the difference between feeling ready and being ready. Part of being ready for the next step is recognizing and fully accepting the necessity of the step you're on now.
So, stay focused on your grind. Become the person you are supposed to be. Learn about yourself and what you want and need in a significant other. Set your standards high and don't compromise them. Never accept anything less than what God has for you. Ask yourself: Am I doing the right thing or am I just lonely? Or bored? Or sad? Most importantly, pray. The Bible promises that every good and perfect thing comes from God. I don't know about you but I want that description for my relationship. I'll choose to seek first His kingdom and wait on the "good and perfect" wifey that's coming my way.
